Abstract
A study was carried out on the interference structure of sound pressure amplitudes, longitudinal projections of phase gradients, and calculated phase velocities in a plane-parallel waveguide. It has been established that the phase velocity values of the sound pressure field and the effective phase velocities in the zones of interference maxima calculated by various methods are quite stable and agree well both with each other and the experimental data. It is shown that at the frequencies for which an array is located in zones of interference maxima, using an equivalent plane wave model and effective phase velocities instead of the sound speed in water reduces the bearing estimation error.
