Abstract

Sound absorption performance of multiple-layer porous material with a perforated facing is investigated. The back face of porous material is against a rigid wall. Biot’s model is used to describe inhomogeneous wave propagating in porous materials. In this paper, the influence of perforated facing and arrangement of porous material on the sound absorption coefficient of multiple-layer structure had been discussed. The numerical results show that a perforated plate mounting on surface of multiple-layer porous material can improve the absorption performance. The flow resistivity of the perforated facing has a significant effect on the sound absorption of multiple-layer porous structure.
