Abstract
The purpose of this research is to identify the communication problems of prospective social studies teachers. Opinions of 119 prospective teachers enrolled at the Firat University Faculty of Education Program of Social studies Education in the spring semester of 2013-2014 academic year were asked within the research in which the qualitative research method was applied. A data collection tool composed of open ended questions was used in the research. Data was analyzed through use of content analysis. According to the research findings, among the problems arising from the prospective teachers themselves; having difficulty in verbal expressions, being not understood or misunderstanding and being unable to make good use of body language; and among the problems arising from the other party were not listening, being unable to make good use of body language and disrespect were listed.
