Abstract
We have studied the sorption of Eu(III) ions on Merrifield resin (chloromethylated polystyrene) impregnated and covalently modified with tetrahydroxythiacalix[4]arenes that contain hydrogen atoms, tertbutyl, and dialkoxyphosphonylmethyl moieties on the macrocyclic upper rim. The resulting materials have a sorption capacity of up to 70 mg/g and allow one to extract up to 99% of Eu(III) from aqueous solutions with medium mineral content at pH 5.5–6.
