Abstract

Laboratory experiments with susceptible strain of Blattella germanica (L.) were done to determine the effect of a plastic resin lacquer (Killmaster) additive on the insecticidal properties of chlorpyrifos. No advantage in topical toxicity was demonstrated for the lacquer formulation compared with an emulsifiable-concentrate (EC) formulation. Radio-tracer experiments indicated the residual efficacy of 14C-chlorpyrifos lacquer on painted wood surfaces over a 1-year period was inferior to comparable 14C-chlorpyrifos EC applications. Also, the “layer” integrity of initial 14C-chlorpyrifos lacquer applications was not maintained when subsequent applications were made.
