The work, by incorporating gender as a category of historical analysis, without disregarding the importance of class and race conflicts, examines how the construction of the sports trajectory of Soraia André, black judoka, former athlete of the Brazilian Olympic team, was processed until her departure from the mats in the early 1990's.
