Abstract

Papers presented discussed the reasons which make it necessary to control soot and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) formation and destruction (toxicologic aspect and the formation of these materials in practical systems was examined), the mechanisms of PAH and soot formation and burnout; aerodynamics of sooty flames; and optical diagnostics. A synthesis of the workshop and recommendations for future work, and an index are included. One paper has been abstracted separately.
