Abstract
This article analyzes the Atlantic demography of African slavery and ethnomusicology in the diaspora. Based on travelers' reports, sources about Africans on ships, newspaper advertisements for runaways, iconographies, images of material culture, we analyzed the making of the African diaspora in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century.

Summary
Os padrões dos africanos desembarcados no Rio de Janeiro são confirmados nestes números. Outro argumento sobre a consistência dos dados de batizados de africanos nas paróquias centrais – em torno das áreas de desembarque no porto do Valongo e outros – da cidade é que o índice de registros de batizados de adultos nas paróquias suburbanas (recôncavo da Guanabara) e outras do interior como Campos dos Goytacazes e Paraíba do Sul, por exemplo, cai bastante, aparecendo mais batizados de crioulos com mães africanas do que cativos adultos. O índice de diversificação das nomenclaturas/identificação dos africanos nos anúncios de fugidos é bem maior do que aqueles dos batizados.
