Abstract

Abstract Background: Preoperative diagnosis of pregnancy in the rudimentary horn before rupture is rarely achieved, even in the present century. Rupture usually occurs in the middle trimester of pregnancy, presenting as acute abdominal pain and hemoperitoneum. Sonohysterography is a simple, noninvasive investigation, which can be performed with minimum technical training. Case: A case of pregnancy in the rudimentary horn in a patient who had failure of medical abortion diagnosed using sonohysterography before rupture of the horn, is reported. Results: Laparotomy confirmed pregnancy in right rudimentary horn. The right uterine artery, was ligated and excision of the rudimentary right horn with right salpingectomy was performed. Postoperative recovery was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the 7th postoperative day.
