Abstract

Saline infusion sonohysterography (SHG) uses real time ultrasonograpy and saline to visualize the contents and shape of the uterine cavity. It is a relatively noninvasive procedure that can be performed in the office setting. Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a radiological test performed using sequential x-rays and an iodine based dye. It is also used to evaluate the uterine contour, contents and tubal patency. Both of these tests are routinely ordered in infertility evaluations. We chose to evaluate the tolerability of these two tests using the parameters of overall comfort level, cramping, pain, dizziness, and length of procedure along with comparing the findings of each.
