Abstract

Purpose: Intraoperative tissue shift induces an alteration of the anatomy in surgery of orbital and parapharyngeal tumors. Consequently, during computer-assisted surgery, a re-evaluation of the CT or MRI data set is mandatory. Based on the experience in neurosurgery handling with brain shift, sonography-aided computer-assisted surgery (SACAS) might be a possible solution for re-evaluation.
