Abstract
A new thallium(I) supramolecular polymer, [Tl(μ5-HTBT)(H2O)]n (1), (H2TBT = tetra bromo terephthalic acid), with monoclinic crystal system and P21/c space group has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The coordination sphere around thallium(I) ion can be considered as O4Tl···O2Br3. Each HTBT− acts as a five-fold-donor ligand. Secondary hydrogen bonding interactions and Br···O halogen bonds also exist in 1. Microstructure of compound 1 was also synthesized with sonochemical procedure. Removal of coordinated water molecule from 1 was investigated in static atmosphere of air which showed different behavior in comparison with that obtained from its TGA (Thermo gravimetric analysis) in static atmosphere of nitrogen. These studies were confirmed with IR spectroscopy, TGA, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
