Abstract

In Turkey, there have been many researches about the Kirghiz tradition, custom, and culture. An important part of these researches was gleaned from the written sources, and played an important role in demonstrating the cultural richness of the Turkish world. In this study,along two days, a semi-nomadic Kirghiz family’s “folk lore” had been recorded and provided informations on their lifestyle based on the researches in the field. As is known, in order to collect information and to understand the culture of a society one has to address families as the core units of a society.Therefore, in this study the Meder Ismailov family was taken as a sample, and the obtained datas about the family were classified under the certain headings. First the methodolgy of the study was given place, and subsequently the informations about Kyrgyzstan, “Naryn Oblast”, “ Naryn Rayon”, and “Songkol Lake” were provided respectively. In short, the foods, clothes, belongings, animals…etc. of a Kirghiz family living close to Itelgiuya plateau were presented in an ethnographical viewpoint.
