Abstract

A 54-year-old man with a history of depression and anxiety developed sudden onset of shortness of breath, chest numbness, palpitations, and flushing. The patient believed his symptoms were similar to prior anxiety attacks and he took his home dose of alprazolam. When his symptoms did not improve, his spouse activated emergency medical services and he was transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department.
