44 This article is based on the author's doctoral dissertation, The Uses of Ventriloquism in Jewish Education, (New York: Jewish Theological Seminary of America, 2001). The findings in that document are appropriate to this article, because most modern ventriloquial presentations are, in essence, forms of puppetry.
