Abstract

Some recently developed unconventional applications of multirate concepts are reviewed, and their usefulness in developing efficient signal processing systems is discussed. The structural subband decomposition of a sequence is described, and some of its applications, such as the efficient design and implementation of FIR (finite impulse response) digital filters, the development of computationally efficient decimators and interpolators, subband adaptive filtering, and the fast computation of discrete transforms are outlined. >
