Abstract
The effect of MoS 2 on the mechanical properties of thermoplastics is reviewed. Although our understanding of this subject is still at an early stage of development the author emphasises the importance of: 1. (a) crystalline morphology 2. (b) polymer-MoS 2 interaction and the probability and importance of a polymer-MoS 2 bond 3. (c) possible effect of surface chemical properties on mechanical properties and makes the distinction between the effects of MoS 2 in crystalline and amorphous thermoplastics.
