Abstract
This comment evaluates Feij, Whitely, Peiro, and Taris′s (1995) model of career enhancing strategies and content innovation in light of related organizational entry research. It contends that Feij et al.′s model is weakened both by its lack of care in using empirical support for the initial model and by its failure to consider related theory and findings from organizational socialization literature. Specifically, three topics from organizational socialization research (influence of organizational tactics on role innovation, help-seeking during organizational entry, and met expectations) are shown to offer possibilities for enriching Feij et al.′s (1995) model.
