Abstract

This is the first finding on tardigrades from the Seychelles. Seven species of tardigrades were recorded, three of them new to science. Echiniscus malpighii n. sp. belongs to a species “arctomis” group of the genus Echiniscus, with short cirrus A and differs from the other species of the group by the type of sculpture. Doryphoribius korganovae n. sp. is similar to D. zappalai Pilato 1971 but differs in some characters of the bucco-pharingeal apparatus, claw and habitat. Macrobiotus seychellensis n. sp. (M. hufelandi-group) differs from the other species of the group in the characters of the eggs and in other characters of the adult animal.
