Abstract

The pore structures of two microporous carbons have been studied using nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide sorption and diffusion data tested against a simple model of porosity. By assuming a slit-like pore system between graphite planes and with the help of a 6–12 Lennard-Jones potential integrated over a single continuous basal plane of graphite, one can have access to two characteristic dimensions: the minimum pore width in the adsorption zone (7–8 Å) and the size of the constrictions leading to the pore (5.2–5.6 Å).
