Abstract

The Oak Hill Member of the Naheola Formation of Alabama (U.S.A.) overlies conformably the Porters Creek Clay Formation and underlies unconformably the Coal Bluff Marl Member of the Naheola Formation. On the basis of the foraminiferal fauna of the overlying and underlying marine strata, the Oak Hill Member is correlative with the Lower Thanetian Stage (the lower part of the Upper Paleocene). Systematic descriptions are given for 28 genera and 38 species of the spore-pollen assemblage recovered from the Oak Hill Member. Among the species described, seven are new, and nine are placed in new combinations. The subgenus Distancorisporis Krutzsch is elevated to generic rank.
