Abstract

We have carried out an experimental study of the combustion of Si powders of different particle sizes in nitrogen in the presence of organic additives. The additives have been shown to initiate combustion, activate silicon transfer to the vapor phase, and contribute to the formation of a protective coating on the Si particles, which prevents them from coagulation when the temperature increases.
