Abstract

Measurements of time-mean axial velocity and temperature in simulated fires of low height to width ratio are reported. The flame length scales as Q 2 D 4 and the implications of this on earlier findings of the authors [4], with longer flame systems where length scales as Q 2 5 , are discussed. Empirical derivations of virtual source location for use in the plume equations above the flame tip are compared.
