Abstract

A simple and useful characterization of the global copies of any classical gauge vacuum is given. When the gauge group is abelian we obtain through that characterization a necessary and sufficient condition for the equivalence of the principal fiber bundles on which any two of such copies are defined. We compute by using also that characterization the classical vacuum structures of some non-abelian gauge field theories defined on different space–times.
