Abstract
The relation between two bi-Hamiltonian structures introduced in the literature to describe some hierarchies of discrete and integral evolution equations is discussed. Moreover, the bi-Hamiltonian formulations of the infinite and finite (non-periodic) Toda lattice are obtained.
