Abstract

The unifying geometrical concept of a recent survey article on two-point boundary-value problems and its realization by an invariant embedding technique are described. The relation between dynamic programming (which is a familiar optimization technique) and invariant embedding is shown in an example. The equations obtained by invariant embedding in certain radiation problems are usually derived by an independent physical argument. The article shows a derivation from the basic conservation law by purely mathematical steps.
