Abstract
It is shown that, in the Nizhni Gorod oblast, plowing of gray forest soils, which amount to about 50% in the structure of arable lands, is accompanied by a change in their morphology, properties, and regimes. The degree of transformation is determined by the character of anthropogenic impact, which led to the formation of soils with a different level of soil improvement and exhaustion.
