Abstract

This paper reviews selected aspects of the field of room acoustics, emphasizing the contributions of V. O. Knudsen and his close associates and former students. The work done by the author with Knudsen in establishing so‐called “optimum” reverberation time curves for “Acoustical Designing in Architecture” is discussed. Finally, the author describes what he considers the most important unsolved problem in room acoustics and gives suggestions for an approach that may be useful in its solution.
