Abstract
AbstractThe methylene group in the 4‐position of 3‐(3′‐pyridyl)‐1‐phenyl‐2‐pyrazolin‐5‐one 1 has been shown to undergo reactions with aldehydes, ketones and aryl diazonium chlorides to give compounds 2 and 5. It also undergoes the MANNICH reaction to give compounds 6. The reaction of 4‐anisylidene‐3‐(3′‐pyridyl)‐1‐phenyl‐2‐pyrazolin‐5‐one 2e with amines, thiophenols, hydrazines, cyclohexanones and ethyl acetoacetate gave compounds 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 respectively.
