Abstract

Cyclotetrathiatriazenium chloride (thiotrithiazyl chloride, S4N3Cl) vaporized at ca. 130 °C reacts with (i) iron, (ii) titanium, and (iii) silver (at ca. 300 °C) to give respectively (i) S3N2Cl, S4N4, and (NSCl)3, (ii) sulphur, nitrogen, and TiCl4, and (iii) S2N2, Ag2S, and AgCl, as the major products. The isolation of S2N2 from the silver reaction and its polymerization to poly (sulphur nitride) and also described.
