Abstract

The form of the amplitude at low energy is shown to determinel—1 moments of the function, in the partial wave dispersion relation, which is the discontinuity across the unphysical branch cut. An inequality is given for the number of zeros in this function. The form of the moment sequence necessary to give a partial wave scattering amplitude consistent, with unitarity and the partial wave dispersion relations is investigated. It is suggested that the sequence must be such that the absorption is a slowly varying function of the impact parameter.
