Abstract

A recent article by Mario Cogoy contains an interpretation of Marx's theory of capital accumulation which appears to be shared, with variations, by a growing number of Marxist economists. This is a complicated and difficult problem which I have no intention of trying to treat exhaustively in a brief essay. But there are a number of basic points of view expressed or implied in this literature which seem to me erroneous, potentially seriously misleading, and hence in need of explicit criticism. This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website.
