Abstract
Two four-parameter subclasses of the Poincaré gauge theory of gravity with dynamic torsion are shown to have a well-posed initial value problem. Each describes, in addition to the usual spin 2 massless graviton, one extra spin 0 dynamic torsion mode. These classes are counterexamples to certain recent claims.
