Abstract

1. 1. Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) was found in two forms using zymography. 2. 2. One (b-LPL) was found to increase in amount in brown adipose tissue (BAT) from cold-exposed mice and to decrease after heparin injection. The other type (f-LPL) did not decrease after heparin injection. 3. 3. The b-LPL type seemed to be an extracellular LPL binding with heparin-like glycosaminoglycan which exists on the cell surface. The f-LPL was like an intracellular one, i.e. glycosaminoglycan-free. 4. 4. We estimated the ratio of b-LPL and f-LPL activity in BAT from cold-exposed mice.
