Abstract

General fatigue and temperament were assessed in 160 specialists of the State Fire Services, one group (test, N = 120) having a 24-h workday and another (control, N = 40) a standard 8- to 9-h workday. It was found that, coupled with general fatigue, temperament characteristics had a circadian variation. Changes of the temperament type established with energy–purposefulness–stereotype scales were due to a reduction of the energy score, the proportion of subjects with hypoergic temperament increasing by up to 10% in the case of the standard workday and by more than one-third in the case of the 24-h workday.
