Abstract

Studies conducted by Adams (1951) with respect to a body of minimum wave drag are considered, taking into account a formula describing the cross-sectional area variation for an optimum body of given length, volume, and base area for minimum wave drag. Attention is given to body shapes and questions of wave drag. The investigation shows that in a range exceeding that studied by Adams there are several optimum bodies for which the maximum area occurs at the base.
