Abstract

The authors show that the beta model cannot be used to describe the enstrophy cascade in two-dimensional fully developed turbulence, in contrast with some recent claims. Moreover they point out that the scaling law for the energy spectrum cannot be deduced by the scaling of the velocity difference, because of the non-locality of the interactions in the Fourier space.
