Abstract
The relatively rare Late Jurassic plant Pachypteris has been found in some abundance in Batskian and Callovian deposits in the Gissar Range, U.S.S.R. Previously unknown morphological and anatomical details are observable in this material. The fronds are bipinnate with dichotomous rachises; the pinnules vary in size, and in margination from entire to crenulate or denticulate. The venation is odontopteroid and the stomata are haplocheilic. Pachypteris is held to be an index of not only Jurassic age but also of deltaic or littoral deposits.--S. H. Mamay.
