Abstract

Sixteen taxa of the species group undescribed up to now in Bulgaria are discussed in this paper. They belong to 13 genera and 10 families of Bivalvia class. The species were found in outcrops of the reef facies exposed between the villages of Tarnene and Bivolare along the right bank of the Vit River to the west of the town of Pleven. They belong to the Opanec Formation. Only Late Moravian (Orbulina suturalis Foraminiferal Zone) and Wielichkian (Uvigerina Foraminiferal Zone) sediments of the Badenian regional Stage are exposed there. The bivalvian fauna is diverse and facially well tied but it is not a criterion by the subdivision of the Badenian Regional Stage into Substages.
