Abstract

In experimental studies on models in hypersonic air flows with fuel injection--ignition and burning as well as the complex interaction of the incoming flow with the chemical reaction zone--the natural values of pressure p and temperature T must be reproduced. The short operating time and the fundamental feature, associated with the decrease in the values of p and T during the experiment, of a number of high-enthalpy, pulsed facilities of the tunnel type with short operating times make it necessary to analyze carefully all questions regarding the technology of tests on gas-dynamic models with combustion. This review describes the most important processes in the implementation of the working process in gas-dynamic channels with heat and mass inflow under conditions for which high-enthalpy air flow around the model occurs over a short period of time.
