Abstract

The author considers the three-dimensional Schrodinger equation with a periodic potential, which models a perfect crystal. Crystal defects are represented by a local perturbation, which is then probed with either point sources or Bloch waves. Simple formulae are derived which described the behaviour of the wavefield and scattering amplitudes when the scatterer is truncated.
