Abstract

We report nine interesting desmid taxa, which five were recorded for the first time for the Amazon Bra-zilian flora, including first records of two infraspecific taxa from Brazil. The material was collected from an Ama-zon flooded area in the state of Amapá, Brazil. A description, geographical distribution in Brazil, water conditions, and frequency of occurrence are provided for each taxon. Our study expands the knowledge of desmids by provid-ing taxonomic notes and information on geographic distribution.
