Abstract

SUMMARY The asymptotic estimating efficiency of a nonparametric proportional hazard regression model for survival data versus the corresponding exponential model is examined for one and two independent variables and the results extended to incorporate censoring. The nonparametric model estimators are shown to have high efficiency in cases of practical importance.
