Abstract

Results of a recent study comparing the approach to practice with groups of social workers with and without group work education are presented, with particular attention to the extent to which their practice reflects an attempt to develop and sustain the group as a mutual-aid system. Differences were found among these practitioners, especially in relation to the ways in which they viewed and addressed control, conflict, and time.
