Abstract

The finding that europium-activated barium fluorohalides (BaFHaI:Eu) have photostimulated luminescence [i, 2] was an incentive to large-scale research on the properties of this material, particularly since it has found an important practical application in computerized (digital) radiography [2, 8]. A particularly advantageous combination of photostimulated luminescence characteristics is observed in BaFBr:Eu phosphors whose energy yield of the photostimulated luminescence reaches 5% at room temperature in the case of excitation by xrays [7].
