Abstract
THERMAL inactivation of the Col SK strain of encephalomyocarditis virus has been studied by Bourdillon1. The rapid deterioration of several strains of encephalomyocarditis virus at high dilution in isotonic sodium chloride2–4 but stability in distilled water3,4 or concentrated sodium chloride4 has led to re-investigation of the thermal stability of the Mengo strain of encephalomyocarditis virus in several such ‘unphysiological’ diluents, using procedures described in a previous report4.
