Abstract
The paper describes a simple counting circuit and various types of Geiger-Muller counter. Representative plateau curves are shown for normal cylindrical counters and for parallel plate/wire counters. The latter are shown to have directional response if a suitable thin window is provided. A simple method for the suppression of delayed cathode emission (Paetow effect) is also outlined.
