Abstract

The two-fluid model for liquid helium and the possibility of the propagation of a wave of relative motion of the two fluids are discussed. An extension of this original theory by the kinetic theory of excitstions of Landau and Khatainikov is also described. Experiments on stationary flow through slits and capillaries are described. An explanstion of the Gonter-Mellink natural friction is given in the theory of quantized vortex lines. The existence of the lines was indirectly supported by the rotsting bucket experiment and can give a suitable explanation of flow phenomena. (M.C.G.)
