Abstract

The effect of copper on the survival of the polychaete Phyllodoce maculata from the Firth of Forth, Scotland, has been investigated. The lethal concentration and the accumulation of copper in the worm tissues have been studied. It is suggested that the rate of uptake may be the lethal factor, rather than the amount of copper accumulated.
