Abstract

Despite the evolution of hardware and software oriented to solve problems in rock mechanics, in most cases of engineering practice simple and quick methods of calculation are still frquently used. In the case of rock slope stability the formulae studied by Hoek & Bray for plane failure are still of exceptional validity and simplicity.
